Color & Style

Color & Style work at Hue & Hive is about the visual side of how you show up—what people read from your clothes before you say a word. We use your colors and Elements of Personal Design as tools for decisions, not rules, so your clothes can actually match who you are and how you want to be seen in different areas of your life—in work, love, and play.

Color is one of the three doors into the Hue & Hive Method, and once we know your colors and design elements, we use them throughout the process—back in your wardrobe, and later in how we think about tidying up then organizing your spaces.

For solopreneurs and people who are the face of their work, the colors and style we land on in your clothes can carry straight into your photos, website, and other places clients meet you. The same is true for dating and relationships—when your clothes feel like you, it’s easier to show up as yourself with new people and the people you already love.

Whether you’re partnered or solo, this process gives you more choice and more freedom in how you show up as yourself—or not. It may be your style not to care much about clothes at all. That’s a style too!

Custom Color Analysis is a highly individual process—no two palettes are the same. I don’t use a formula or plug you into a standard “season”; seasons can be a reference point, but with Hue & Hive your palette is built by hand for you and your life. It’s especially helpful if you feel like you have nothing to wear, don’t know what colors to focus on when you shop, and want more harmony in your closet and the spaces you live in. Also great if you’re in a major life transition. Or just for fun!

Virtual Color & Style

In‑person sessions in Greenville, South Carolina are ideal for color, but everything here can also be done virtually.

Virtual Custom Color Analysis is a full version of the same process over Zoom, with several calls (Discovery, Assessment, Reveal, and a Final Review) and a digital palette and guide you can use on your phone or computer.

If you’re outside the Greenville area or know you’ll mostly be showing up online, we can talk through whether virtual or in‑person is the best fit for you in your Discovery Call.

Outcomes

Color & Style helps you:

  • Understand why some things have never felt right, even if they looked good on the hanger

  • Make more intentional choices for specific moments—for example, wearing support colors to visit a friend who isn’t well, power colors to sign a legal document or give a presentation, or red when you want to feel highly attractive, romantic, or passionate

  • Shop faster and buy less you regret

  • Build outfits more easily because more things work together

  • Feel more like yourself in your clothes

  • Help you have clear choice and freedom in how to show up - from lounging around at home, to a meeting on Zoom, to being out in the world in ways that matter to you.

A note about Dog Colors

Sometimes the creature who sees you most clearly is already sitting at your feet.

Dog Colors started as a playful side project—looking at the colors and markings of the animals we live with, and how they sit alongside our own. For some clients, seeing their palette next to their dog’s has been a surprisingly sweet way to understand contrast and harmony.

If Dog Colors makes you smile, you’re probably my kind of person. I offer Dog Colors sessions occasionally; if you’re curious, mention it in your Discovery Call and we’ll see what’s possible.

What clients are saying…

“Knowing my exact shades has been so helpful. I’m buying less I regret and more I actually wear, and getting dressed is simply easier.”

GINA, DAVIDSON, NC

“Sarah created a custom palette for me virtually and it was an amazing experience. With her unique approach and artistic intuition, I felt seen and understood. This really can be done virtually.”

REBECCA, SPOKANE, WA

“. . . the inner space of a wardrobe is deep. A wardrobe’s inner space is also intimate space, space that is not open to just anybody. . . In the wardrobe there exists a center of order that protects the entire house against uncurbed disorder.” - Gaston Bachelard

Practical Details

Color sessions are typically and optimally done in‑person in Greenville, South Carolina, with good natural light. Virtual Color Analysis is available for clients farther away or focused on their online presence. If you’re not sure what format is best for you, we can decide together in your Discovery Call.

After your Color & Style work, you’ll have a physical palette fan, photos, and a guide to remember and use your colors. For some clients, I also set up a digital closet via an app, so you can see your clothes and colors together on your phone when you’re getting dressed or shopping. If that sounds helpful, ask about it in your call.
